Biography
Originally from Canada, I am now living in Paris, France. My photography is a study of lines, shapes and textures as they are found, uninterrupted, portraying a variety of social contexts and human behaviour.
Working in black and white provides me with the most direct means of conveying form and subject through images. The basics of photography and darkroom technique are the foundation of this creative process. I am most drawn to capturing objects and places as they are, without interference, or manipulation.
I am inspired by the images of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Brassaï for their ability to capture the details of daily Parisian life.
I am intrigued by the passage of time, by things left behind and by the movement of people. Someone was here before me… who were they? I am more interested in the moment than in the whole story.
I continue to work on the theme ‘Autour d’un café’ shooting cafés and terraces wherever I go. Travel is a continuous source of inspiration and creative renewal.
Biographie
Originaire de Canada, j’habite présentement en France. Ma photographie se définit principalement comme une étude de formes graphiques et de textures telles que je les trouve, montrant divers contextes de la vie sociale et du comportement humain.
La prise de vue en noir et blanc me procure une sensation très forte des images. Mon art est basé principalement sur la capture des lignes et des contrastes, que ce soit en relation avec un objet ou un endroit.
J’ai été beaucoup influencée par les oeuvres de Henri Cartier-Bresson et de Brassaï qui ont su traduire en photo d’art la vie quotidienne à Paris.
Le passage du temps m’intrigue. Les personnes passent, leurs objets restent. Quelqu’un était là avant moi… qui était-il? Le moment m’attire davantage que l’histoire complète.
Depuis plusieurs années je travaille sur le thème ‘Autour d’un café’ en photographiant les cafés et les terrasses dans les pays où je me rends. Le voyage est une source permanente d’inspiration.
